by Loan Pham on June 19, 2020

Who should wear buttonholes / boutonniere and corsages at my wedding?

Nearly every groom will wear a buttonhole or lapel at heir wedding. The buttonhole will be styled to compliment and match the bride's bouquet. Similarly , the best man's & groomsmen buttonholes will match the bridesmaids' bouquets.

Generally, the parents of the bride and groom will wear a buttonhole or a corsage. The buttonhole is normally made with a single flower bloom adorned with a small amount of backing foliage. The corsage is a small cluster of delicate blooms and is worn by ladies. Either as a wrist corsage or a pin-on chest corsage.

The most important thing is to make sure anyone who warrants a buttonhole or a corsage, receives one.

for example, if Aunt Mary has spent all week creating the boutonniere or a close friend helps as an usher at the reception, you might consider offering a small token of appreciation to these kind and generous people who will help make your busy day run smoothly and more enjoyable for everyone.

We have made many wedding flowers over the past 16 years and throughout my recollection has always been of the excitement at the weddings including family buttonholes. The thrill and pride of pinning on a buttonhole as a finishing touch to a formal outfit is such a joyous part of the Main Event!
